SUMMARY
After losing his mother at a young age, Brent was driven to pursue a career in law enforcement. He became commander of the King’s Bay PD at a relatively young age and fell for rookie cop Sarah Fisher. Unfortunately, he also felt drawn to her sister, Molly, as he helped protect her from a stalker. Sarah saw Brent and Molly sharing a kiss and swiftly maneuvered him into eloping. Brent remained faithful, though the marriage was strained; Sarah even convinced him to quit the KBPD and work as P.I.s for a time. When Sarah gave birth to a baby girl who turned out to be Matt Gray’s, Brent ended the marriage and resumed his role with the KBPD. He and Molly fought their feelings for a time but finally pursued a relationship. They married in a surprise New Year’s Eve ceremony at the start of 2005, and later that year, Molly gave birth to twin boys, Caleb and Christian.
An explosion rigged by mobster Nick Moriani necessitated the amputation of Brent’s leg below the knee. He struggled to accept this new reality and became fixated on finding who had helped Nick pull off this final revenge plot. As Brent and Claire Fisher teamed up to solve the mystery, their families were put in danger, leading to a serious rift between Brent and Molly. Although he and Claire eventually identified Loretta Ragan as Nick’s accomplice and had her brought to justice, the damage to Brent’s marriage was done. He and Molly divorced.
After denying their growing feelings, Brent and Claire embarked upon a romantic relationship. They even talked about marriage, but when teenage Caleb became mixed up with a drug ring, Brent and Molly found themselves kidnapped and locked in the trunk of a car. When the car was set on fire, they were certain they were going to die; the ex-spouses confessed their love to one another and admitted regret over how their marriage had ended. Weeks later, they gave in to passion and slept together. Brent, who’d been planning to propose to Claire, found himself torn — and was shocked when Molly announced that she was pregnant with his baby. Claire overheard the announcement and cut things off with Brent.
Throughout the pregnancy, Brent and Molly grew even closer and seemed to be on the verge of reuniting. However, when Molly delivered the baby, they were told that their son had died during the birth. Their grief put the brakes on a romantic reunion, especially as Molly became convinced something was amiss. The doctor who’d delivered the baby died in what appeared to be a suicide, but Brent surmised that it had actually been a murder — and shortly thereafter, the doctor’s attorney delivered a letter to Molly and Brent in which the doctor confessed that their child had actually been a daughter and survived! After pressing for a DNA test, Brent and Molly learned that Gabrielle, a child who’d been abandoned outside the KBPD and adopted by Molly’s nephew, Travis, and his wife, Rosie, was actually their daughter. A painful custody battle ensued, and in the course of it, Brent and Molly reunited romantically. They remarried in a private ceremony with their sons present, during one of their court-supervised visits with Gabrielle, in 2023. After Rosie made a run for the Canadian border with Gabrielle, Travis convinced her to accept the inevitable, and they handed custody of the little girl over to Brent and Molly.
