SUMMARY

Diane was Tim Fisher’s boss at Vision Publishing and harbored feelings for him. When he suffered amnesia, Diane led him to believe they were married and had sex with him. She soon found herself pregnant with his baby. Though she hoped to break up Tim and his wife, Claire, the couple persevered and even won custody of baby Samantha. Diane left town soon afterward with her coworker and partner-in-crime, Brian Hamilton.

After Tim was presumed dead, Diane returned to King’s Bay to fight Claire for custody of Samantha, which she was eventually granted. She also had a fling with her attorney, Eric Westin. Diane developed a friendship with Tim’s sister, Sarah, and when Tim returned very much alive, he and Diane actually bonded as they learned to co-parent. When Claire chose to be with Ryan Moriani and end her marriage, Tim turned to Diane, and they began a romantic relationship. Eventually, Diane called it off, realizing that Tim was not fully over Claire.

She persuaded Ryan (who’d just tried to frame Tim for killing Nick Moriani) to publish his memoirs through Vision, much to the consternation of the Fishers. Diane and Ryan often sparred in the course of working together. Later, they clashed over whether Diane should publish a memoir by Julian St. John, because Ryan feared it would implicate him in years-old crimes. They pursued Julian to Vegas — and were shocked to wake up, very hungover and married. Their marriage — which they immediately sought to end in secret, only for Eric Westin to fail to file the paperwork — was exposed on what was supposed to be Ryan’s wedding day to Danielle Taylor. Diane and Ryan soon divorced for real but later had a one-night stand that resulted in Diane becoming pregnant. She was unsure about how to proceed but miscarried.

As a result of losing the rights to Julian’s memoirs, Diane was let go from Vision Publishing. Desperate to send Samantha to college, she took a job managing The Blank Page, a secondhand bookstore opened by Jimmy Trask and Keith Huff. When it turned out to be a front for drug-running, Diane blackmailed Keith to keep his secret. The ring was busted, but Diane managed to keep the money and evade being implicated in the drug ring. A radio interview about the incident led to her being offered a job as cohost of KBAY’s morning show.

She found herself back on top in a position of power, only to face the revelation that Samantha was a lesbian and involved with Tempest Banks. Diane was supportive of her daughter’s sexuality but concerned about her relationship with Tempest, who was Claire’s foster daughter. She was upset when Tempest’s biological mother, Yvette Banks, showed up in town pregnant, and Tempest wanted to raise her half-brother after Yvette died. Diane feared Samantha would throw away her future to raise a baby with her girlfriend, so she ensured that Alex Marshall and Trevor Brooks would adopt Yvette’s baby — even going so far as to bring the baby’s father to King’s Bay to sign off. Tempest was furious to see him, as the man had abused her years earlier, and retaliated by exposing how Diane had committed sexual assault by deceiving Tim into having sex with her. Samantha was horrified by the truth of her conception. Although being forced to face this shameful act in her past was painful for Diane, she grew through the experience and even reconciled with Samantha. But she wasn’t upset that Samantha had dumped Tempest for the revenge scheme, and she arranged for Sam to date Jaq Pearson, a production assistant at KBAY, to keep her from reuniting with Tempest.

Diane discovered that her father, Henry, had been diagnosed with Stage 4 pancreatic cancer. He convinced her to keep it a secret from the rest of the family, but when Henry collapsed and died soon afterward, Diane’s mother and sister were angry at her for having kept the information from them. Diane was confused when her dying father mistook her for someone named “Therese” — and suspicious when her mother reacted so poorly to a mere mention of the name. She decided to investigate this family mystery and eventually discovered that her biological mother was a woman named Therese DeLuca, a poor woman with whom her father had been in love. Therese had given her daughter, whom she’d named Ann Marie, to Henry and the wife who’d been picked out for him, Claudia. The revelation sent Diane into a tailspin, and when she went on a cruise to gather herself, she met an attractive younger man calling himself Ben and had a brief, hot fling. When “Ben” followed her to King’s Bay, however, it turned out that he was actually Isaac Banks, Tempest’s long-lost older brother! Diane’s nasty history with Tempest turned out to be a major stumbling block for the would-be couple, but when Diane unexpectedly came to Tempest’s rescue after Jaq framed Tempest for stalking, tensions began to cool. Isaac also played a key role in treating Samantha after a car accident left her in a coma, and once Samantha recovered, Diane admitted her feelings for Isaac. The two finally began a relationship in 2023.
