SUMMARY
Strong-willed Rosie became embroiled in the Footprint Killer investigation after being called to the scene of Sandy James’s murder. This brought her into contact with the Fisher family, and despite a contentious first encounter with Travis Fisher, the two developed a mutual attraction. Though they began dating, Travis became confused by some mixed messages, and Rosie bristled when he inquired about her father, whose grave she had secretly been visiting. Travis also noticed a connection between Rosie and Jesse, a busboy at Bill’s on the Pier, even though she denied it.
Soon after Travis tried to ask Jesse some sly questions about Rosie’s past, a gunman cornered Travis and Rosie at Paula Fisher’s house. Paula escaped the house, setting off her house-arrest monitor and saving all three of them, but when Paula had to face a judge for violating her house arrest, Rosie came clean: the gunman had likely been sent by Diego Barrera, a drug dealer whom she’d dated years earlier. Rosie tearfully confessed that she’d agreed to hold drugs for Diego, and when a scuffle broke out over the drugs in the Jimenez family home, Rosie’s father had been killed. She convinced the judge not to punish Paula for something that Rosie herself had caused, and out of both guilt and fear that she’d hurt him and his loved ones, Rosie pushed Travis away.
She offered to resign from the KBPD, but police commissioner Brent Taylor told her that the D.A. wanted her cooperation with bringing down Diego Barrera for good. Rosie reached out to her estranged mother to warn her what was going on, and the two women were unable to break through the wall between them. Rosie did manage to link Jesse to a local dealer and make a bust, which set off a chain of events that led to Brent and his ex-wife, Molly, being kidnapped and locked in the trunk of a car that was set on fire. Luckily, Rosie’s knowledge of Diego’s operation helped save them in time, and when she finally confronted Diego face-to-face, he shot himself dead rather than face arrest.
Though she continued to fight her feelings, Rosie eventually gave in and allowed herself to be with Travis again. He encouraged her to try and mend fences with her family, and eventually she did. In 2020, Rosie found a newborn baby girl abandoned outside the police station and offered to foster the child. She and Travis grew attached to the little girl, whom they named Gabrielle, and planned to adopt her. In the summer of 2021, Rosie and Travis married. What they didn’t know was that Gabrielle was actually the child of Travis’s aunt, Molly, and Brent Taylor — Loretta Ragan had paid off a doctor to tell them their child died at birth. When that doctor took his own life and left behind a letter revealing the truth, Molly and Brent demanded a DNA test. Rosie resisted, not wanting to accept the truth, and when Loretta’s plans to switch the DNA test failed, she instead had Rosie and Gabrielle kidnapped. They were held in the basement of the old Moriani home by disgraced lawyer Eric Westin, who was so desperate for cash that he’d aligned with Loretta. Molly was convinced that Rosie had gone on the run with Gabrielle, but Rosie was able to send Travis a sign, and a crowd raced to the Moriani house in hopes of rescuing her and the baby. But when Westin fired a gun at Brent and hit a gas line, the house exploded. Rosie and Gabrielle were saved, but a custody battle now hung over them all. The legal dispute caused deep divides in the Fisher family, and after Rosie and Travis’s lawyer attempted to paint Molly in a duplicitous light, Molly and Brent retaliated by digging up Rosie’s past and the circumstances of her father’s death. The ugliness in the courtroom caused Paula Fisher to suffer a heart attack, and the turning tides of the case sent Rosie into a panic. She fled for the Canadian border with Gabrielle, but Travis caught her, and soon afterward, so did Brent and Molly. Travis convinced his wife to accept the inevitable, and they tearfully handed Gabrielle over to Molly and Brent.
